My fine art private collection

The Good Guys is the name I chose for my private fine art collection (discover the story behind the name here), born from a strong passion for music and the desire to spark curiosity and wonder in my children, surrounded by handpicked photographs with backstories that shaped music history.

While this began as a deeply personal endeavor, the collection has grown to include prestigious pieces that I believe could enrich galleries and exhibitions. I’m eager to connect with curators and galleries interested in renting these works, offering their audiences a chance to experience these remarkable photographs (contact details here).

Artworks I own

The Rolling Stones & The Beatles

The Rolling Stones and The Beatles are cornerstones of music history, and my fascination with their legacy began with Michael Cooper. A close friend and photographer of the early Stones, Cooper’s lens captured their world in a way few others could, as Keith Richards pointed out: “One of the great qualities for me about these photographs are their honesty. There was, and still is to my mind, a lot of rubbish talked about the era, but Michael managed to capture it the way it really was”.

But Cooper was more than just the Rolling Stones. Among his many works, he’s also famous for his contribution to what is considered the most famous vinyl cover of all time, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (which also inspired the name of this collection). This connection between Cooper and both bands is a key reason why the collection naturally grew around these two icons of music history.

Below are some of the pieces in my collection; reach out if you’d like to see the full list, each accompanied by its unique backstory.

Other Artworks

Beyond the icons of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, my collection includes additional photographs that highlight key figures who shaped music history. Below are some of these other pieces.

Banksy

A special section of the collection is dedicated to Banksy, showcasing his contribution to music by illustrating record and CD covers, mainly in his early career.

Why the name “The Good Guys”

Every photo in my collection has a backstory, and so the name I chose for it, “The Good Guys”. It’s inspired by the “WMPS Good Guys Welcome the Rolling Stones” child’s sweatshirt, worn by a doll on the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I suggest you spending less than 4 mins discovering the story of this shirt, a story that perfectly captures the cultural interplay between The Beatles and The Stones, who are key in my collection.

But “The Good Guys” isn’t just about The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. From the Sex Pistols to Banksy, Janis Joplin to Jimi Hendrix, the collection honors the spirit of rebellion in music.
